INSTRUCTIONAL LEARNING WORKSHOPS
in the
Essential Elements of Instruction


The San Marcos Unified School District is pleased to offer a series of Instructional Learning Workshops and Clinical Supervision for aspiring and current administrators during the 2010-2011 school year. Six training sessions will be held at Richland Elementary School, the Professional Development Campus in the SMUSD.boy and girl student

Participants will have the opportunity to refine and extend their skills in using research-based instructional practices that can be applied to all grades, subject areas and settings. Additionally, participants will learn the clinical supervision process to observe and analyze a lesson, and to conference with the teacher to reinforce and refine their instructional practice.

Target Audience:

  • Site or District Level Administrators


In each workshop you will:

  • Learn specific, research-based elements of a teaching skill and the rationale for using it.
  • Understand when it is important and not important to use the skill
  • Apply the Clinical Supervision process to observe and analyze lessons, and to conference effectively with the teacher



Cost:

  • $1,200 for all six sessions

Principal, Richland Elementary School

Eric Forseth has worked in education since 1979 as a teacher, mentor teacher, assistant principal, principal, instructional coach, consultant, and university instructor. The schools he has lead have earned California Distinguished School recognition, the California Title 1Academic Achievement Award, and California Businesses for Excellence in Education Awards. He was selected as the Riverside County Principal of the Year (1998) and Elementary Principal of the Year for San Diego and Imperial Counties in 2005. Eric most recently served as the principal at the SMUSD's newest elementary school, Joli Ann Leichtag in its opening year, prior to moving to Richland Elementary School as the principal of the San Marcos Unified School District’s Professional Development Campus.
